Constitution of a Charitable Incorporated Organisation whose only voting members are its charity trustees
DATE OF CONSTITUTION (LAST AMENDED): 28 SEPTEMBER 2022
1. NAME
The name of the Charitable Incorporated Organisation (“the CIO”) is the
Furness Refugee Support
2. NATIONAL LOCATION OF PRINCIPAL OFFICE
The principal office of the CIO is in England.
3. OBJECTS
The objects of the CIO are:
To provide support for refugees, asylum seekers and others fleeing conflict and persecution, providing public benefit by
- Supporting Refugees, Asylum Seekers and others fleeing conflict and persecution by raising money to provide services and meet needs.
- Befriending refugees, asylum seekers and those fleeing conflict and persecution and helping them to learn English, engage in education, volunteering and employment and contribute to their local community
- Assisting the integration of Refugees, Asylum Seekers and others fleeing conflict and persecution into the local community through working collaboratively with statutory and other organisations
- Training and developing volunteers to aid in the provision of services to Refugees and Asylum seekers and the wider community
- The raising of awareness of issues around refugees, asylum seekers and others fleeing conflict and persecution by the provision of education, workshops, seminars, public lectures and through electronic and print media and opportunities for the public to meet people who have sought safety in the UK 1.
And in accordance with the above, to undertake any other activity which with the approval of Trustees is deemed to meet and support these objectives.
Nothing in this constitution shall authorise an application of the property of the CIO for the purposes which are not charitable in accordance with [section 7 of the Charities and Trustee Investment (Scotland) Act 2005] and [section 2 of the Charities Act (Northern Ireland) 2008]
